UK Student Visa Applications
Students who are not from EU and EEA will be subject to new immigration rules for called Tier 4.
For students applying for General Student UK visa, under Tier 4 of the points based system, you would need to score 40 points.
1. Sufficient Funds
You will need to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds. This will earn you 10 points.
- If your course is less than 9 months – you will require your full course fee and the maintenance fund of every month you intend to stay.
- If your course is over 9 months – you will require full couse fee (or the first year fee only if your course is longer than a year) and the maintenance fund of GBP 5,400. If you are studying in London, you will need the maintenance fund of GBP 800 per month.
- You have to proof that you have these funds in your name (the fund should be in cash and should show that you have hold this amount for as least 28 days before you apply for your visa).
- In London, the maintenance fund is suggested at GBP 800.- / month to cover to cost of living.
- Outside London, the maintenance fund is suggested at GBP 600.- / month
2. Is the Institution licensed?
Before you apply for a course at any institution, make sure the institutions you are applying to are licensed by the UK Border Agency. Advice For You only work with partner institutions who are fully licensed by the UK Border Agency. To check for yourself visit the Register of Education Sponsors.
3. Visa Letter
After you have been accepted at the institution of your choice, you will be issued with an enrolment letter for your visa application. With this letter you will be awarded another 30 points, fullfilling the required score of 40 points.
- The letter of visa should confirm your acceptance to study at that institution, contain details about you, the course you applied, course fee and what evidences the sponsor has seen of your application
4. Supporting Documents
In applying you are required to submit the following documents:
- Passport
- Visa Letter
- Proof of maintenance funds
- A completed application form, which can be downloaded here
- Evidence of appropriate qualification to be accepted on to the course
- Photo
- IOM certificate
- Application fee
