Delays to my Student Visa Application

I lodged for visa last feb.04 and until now i didnt receive my visa yet.To whom can i verify the status of my application? And is there a possibilty that i was denied? Why is it that my companions who lodged on the same day received their visa after 3 days. What could have possibly caused the delay?how long is the normal visa processing?thank you!

    • Hi Manpreet

There was a blanket ban on ALL applications from North India shortly after your submitted your application. This could be what’s causing the delays – there is probably a huge backlog to work through.

Have you considered withdrawing your application and reapplying?

Your should also make an official complaint about the delay and see what response you get:

      VFS – feedback & complaints

VFS aims to provide a professional and efficient service to all its customers and welcomes feedback that will help improve the services they provide. VFS will investigate all complaints fully. VFS will acknowledge receipt and will provide a full reply within 20 working days.

In person: At the visa application centre. The visa application centre also has a complaints register. If you wish to make a comment in the register, please ask the supervisor or manager to provide it to you.

      • You will need to provide the following information:-

    • Hi

If you wish to cancel your visa application and withdraw your passport; a written request needs to be submitted to the visa application centre. You can download the UK visa withdrawal form here. The UK Border Agency aims to return your passport and supporting documents within 1 – 2 working days of receiving your application withdrawal request. The visa application fee is non-refundable if you have submitted your biometric data.

  • Hi Daniel, Good day!

I am Jr from the Philippines. Ive browsed the net and saw this page, and thought of sharing my queries to you.

I applied in UK Application Center last February 17, 2010. I got a text message that same day that my papers are being carried to the embassy i think. Then on the 22nd, I received a message that my passport was being processed. But until now, May 28, I have no news yet about my application. I’ve tracked my application using the “tracking application tool” in VFS Global Site but it says its still in the British High Commission. My friends who applied the same date with me had received their visas, last 2nd wk of May and the other is this week. But unfortunately they’re visas were refused. I am anxious with my visa application result. Why does it takes so long for my application result? Its more than 3 months now and no news yet.

Hmmm, Hope to hear from you soon.

    Thanks much in advance.

    Yours,
    Jr

    • Hi Aniket

I don’t think their licence was ever suspended, so there must be some other reason for the delay.

What country are you applying from and at what VFS center?

    • What country are you applying from? The college appears on the Register so there must be some other reason for the delay to your application.

Your application should be judged against the rules that were in place when you first paid and submitted it.

    • Hi Manu

There has been a ban on all applications from that region. I imagine there is a large backlog of applications to process, as the ban has been lifted for courses of degree-level and above.

Keep me updated on your progress.

  • Hi Daniel

My Name is Kunwar Ajeet Singh and I applied for Tier4 Visa on 5th Jan’10. I was already in the UK on Work Holiday Visa and came to India just to switch my Visa and with that I applied for a dependent as well as she was with me in the UK on Working Holiday Visa.
It has already been 4 months since I have applied and till now I have not heard from the Embassy about anything as I have sent them the mail on visqry.newdelhi@fco.gov.uk on 1Mar’2010 and till date I have not received any revert from them. I have also been to the High Commission twice and gave them the written application but again NO REPLY and when you call them or visit the embassy what they tell you is ” Withdraw your application”. I don’t understand why are they telling this to me.

The inquiry numbers are so busy and fortunately when you get through they tell you that your file is under process and you will receive a revert by next week and this process is going on since March’2010. I don’t know why are giving me the Incorrect Information.

Kindly help me or If you can provide any Information.

    Regards
    Kunwar

    • Hi Kunwar

You should raise this as a formal complaint, as they have to give you a response within a strict time frame.

What country and what VFS centre did you apply through?

        Dear Daniel

I have applied from New Delhi India and my college is Kensington college of Business which was never Blacklisted and moreover when I call the High Commission Helpdesk they always give me different Information. I am so confused now that I don’t know what to beleive because I think I am not getting a correct Information from them and when I am tell them the same thing they tell me that this is not possible as I am lying.

I have given them all the True Documents so I cannot even work anywhere and I am sitting at home from past 5 months including my wife.

        I am feeling so helpless.

        Regards
        Kunwar Ajeet Singh

  • Hi Daniel,

    Greetings!

I wish to seek your advise regarding the student visa processing time taken by the BHC New Delhi. Infact I had lodged my application on 19th Jan, 2010 at VFS, Delhi but I’ve not received my visa till date. My course is a degree programme in Business at College of Technology London which is an A rated college and has never been suspended. Further I’ve an IELTS score of overall 5.0 bands and will have to study 8 months English prior to my degree studies. My consultant Xanthus Overseas Consultants based in Karnal city, Haryana has advised me to wait for some more time as they feel that my application is strong and fulfills all the UKBA requirements for a student visa.

They say that evrything is positive in my case regarding course, college, English proficiency proof and funds and hopefully there will be no problem in visa grant.

May I request you to provide relevant information regarding my queries and the quality of College of Technology London.

    Thanks & regards,

    Dinesh Singh
