We do not want to be rude, but here in Manila, Phils., the processing of student visa is taking ages. It is wasting our time. We are helpless, all we do is wait. If there is so much work load in Taguig, UK Embassy, then they should advise VFS in Makati to temporarily stop accepting visa applicants to address the current work load. We are paying so much for the fee, around $200 and we deserve a proper and responsible service. Please help us…

We have same experiences regarading our application at the UK EMbassy. Me i was waiting for almost 6 months and i got my result. “refused” due to the bank, i even submit all the original documents but still the same. they just collect our visa fee then they refused us at the end. Anyway good luck to all applications whose still waiting for the result for there application…..

Hi explorer2k4, sad to hear that. I am afraid the same thing would happen to my application. That I would be refused a visa after waiting for a long time.
Hope you can share with us the details of the refusal. What was it about your proof maintenance fund? Thanks for sharing.

I have applied for a student visa last August 2009 and got the result on September after a month, and unfortunately my visa was denied. Apparently, the visa officer incorrectly calculated the funds so, I decided to logged in my appeal to the Asylum in UK. I haven’t heard anything since then. It only goes to show that not only most of us are getting bad reviews in our application but never the less an aging processing time. I only suggest that it is best to get in touch with the International Office of the University you guys have enrolled to. They are the only people you can count on at this time. Sure the people at the UK Embassy in Manila are locals (Filipinos) Oh yes, in case you don’t know. But I assure you that they are the Mafia inside that office, cannot be trusted and you can never count on them. It’s like they are doing : “ini-mini-my-ni-mo, who will I approve and not”.. BASTARDS!! Good luck to all.

That’s a really long time of waiting Alex. Did you follow up your application or filed a complaint?
I hope you got it wrong. The people at UK Embassy should do their work properly because a lot of lives are affected by their decisions. I just hope my high regard for the British Embassy is not misplaced..

Sorry to hear that melliza..
Do you mind sharing the grounds of refusal on your application? As proof of funds, did you submit PASSBOOK OR BANK CERTIFICATE?
Oh no, why is it that all I’m hearing from fellow applicants is visa refusal. This is really depressing.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Daniel,
With my agent’s advice, I submitted the ff: Visa Letter issued by Golders Green(lodged Feb 16 so it was still accepted), my College Diploma, Official Transcript of Records, Certificate confirming Philippine Nursing Board Registration, IELTS report card, my Passport, and Savings Passbook with my name on the account (closing transaction on the 29th day).
I submitted all originals by the way.
What do think are my chances of being granted a visa? I have been waiting for 4 months now. And my school, GCC, was taken out of Register of Sponsors list for a short while but they’ve been back for more than 2 weeks now.
Thank you Daniel. Your advice will be much appreciated.

I just hope mine will be next in line. Its been really frustrating to wait and wait for months..

hi guys. i really understand what you are all going through now. i came here in london last feb. 2008 after getting my student visa just after two weeks of waiting. processing was really fast then compared to what you are experiencing right now of which some have been waiting for several months already
i applied for my visa extension last nov. 2009 and my college’s license was also suspended just right after i posted my application for extension. Though the guidelines clearly says that if the license of the sponsor is suspended, the application will be put on hold while waiting for the suspension to be resolved, i was still a bit worried because the Home Office had been suspending and revoking licenses of about 10 colleges everyday.
but nevertheless i got my visa extension 2 weeks after my college’s license was reinstated of which i commended the Home Office.
However its not only in the Philippines that visa processing takes much longer. i have a friend who posted his application for extension and biometrics in november 2009 yet and until now he havent received the result. i also got a colleague at work who had his application posted in october 2009 but havent got any result either until now.
so i guess they somewhat tightened their policy in immigration with the new conservative-liberal govt. or maybe they assess each application on a case to case basis depending on the circumstances and documents presented.
we’ll just hope and pray that they consider student applicants from the philippines.
just make sure that you submit the correct documents and dont give them reason to deny your visa application.
good luck to all those who are still waiting for their visa application results.

Hi
Thanks for sharing the details of your experience and at least someone appears to be happy with the speed their applications were processed in!
Regarding your friends who have been waiting for so long, do you know what college(s) they have applied to?
Your point about submitting the correct documents is so true; it is very important for students to fully read and understand the application form they are submitting as well as the requirements for the supporting documents.
Hope to hear from you soon so that I may shed some light on your friends’ plight.

Aside from a really HUGE delay in tier 4 processing in the Philippines, all I’m hearing from applicants is visa REFUSAL.
Why, oh why? This is so sad indeed.
I just hope and pray that I get my result SOON and that it will be a POSITIVE one. I earnestly hope all of you will be granted a VISA too. Lets continue praying guys..
Any update from other applicants?

hi to pammie
as what I’ve said, my two friends have different prof of show money. one of my friend pass the bank certificate and bank statement and the other one is passbook, but they have same result which is refusal. the embassy reason out that they don’t have enough prof to support that they have that kind of fund. so now,i’m confuse what they want us to do..just to prof that we have that kind of fund..

That’s confusing indeed melliza.
It boggles my mind as to why they wont accept PASSBOOKS as legitimate proof when it shows everything in there; it has account name, level of funds and dates of transaction, name and logo of bank, etc etc. It was even on the UKBA website that they accept Passbooks and Bank Statements. So what documents do they really need????

This is concerning indeed. I would suggest an Administrative Review if you can afford to wait for the decision, otherwise you could make a fresh application.
Many students apply using Bank Books as proof of funds and in other countries have not experienced any problems. I wonder what the issue is in the Philippines?

Hi Melliza
Can you provide the exact reason for refusal from the ECO? Without knowing their exact reasoning and the wording, it is difficult to comment.

This is sad..
And this makes me even more anxious!
You see, as proof of funds I submitted my PASSBOOK ONLY! But I was sure I followed the 28-day rule (I lodged on the 29th day).
Melliza, can you pls share with the specifics as to why they were refused? Was it because of the 28th day rule? Or was it because they came up short of the required level of funds perhaps?
I have heard of cases of visa refusal because the applicants only submitted bank statements. On the other hand, I have also heard of cases of approval when the only document submitted as proof of funds was a savings PASSBOOK and nothing else!
Does this mean a savings Passbook is enough to convince the ECO?
Daniel, can you help us out with this please. This is really confusing. We’re not clear on what documets the ECO really wants us to submit.
Thanks for any input any of you might post. Really anxious and confused here.

Hi Pammie
I would suggest that you also get a letter from the bank confirming that you have held the funds for the required period and that you have immediate access to said funds. This document – sometimes called a bank certificate – should be printed on headed paper, in colour and be signed and stamped by a bank official. This letter from the bank should also state what your current balance is in GBP and what exchange rate has been used.

Hi Daniel,
I did not submit a bank certificate but I gave them my savings passbook. I already lodged my application last Feb 16 so its too late to ask for a letter from my bank at this time. I just hope my passbook is enough evidence of maintenance fund.

Hi Pammie
Fingers crossed for you, but to others reading this, I would strongly suggest submitting a Letter from a bank or building society confirming the funds or the agreement of a loan if the balance is not already in GBP.
Keep me posted Pammie.

Do you guys know of anyone who got visa approval this year?
Any update? What is now the status of those who posted above?
Sad to say, I am in the same boat with you guys.. I lodged my application last Feb 2010 and until now still no decision from the Embassy. Been anxiously waiting for almost 4 months.
I, too, am very disappointed with their system. If there is so much backlog in the Philippines that they have stopped making decisions since Jan 2010, then they should stop accepting applications temporarily to somehow reduce the pile up.
I am beginning to think that UK Embassy = FRUSTRATION!
Hopefully this month some of us will finally get results. Lets pray that our waiting time and anxiety will be over SOON..

hmmmm it seems that most of us who lodged our documents late last year and early this year to the VFS got no response still.. i just duno how their system really works..i’ve tried sending emails to VFS before and they said that they have the time frame or standard to comply for the issuance of the visa result..but the fact is, we as applicants, have been waiting in mid air..with our pockets empty and so stressed already with the current situation..im waiting for more than 5months now, and maybe so as the others..Good luck nlng to all of us.

hi everyone
I been waiting for the result of my tier4 application for six months now….I submitted my application since November 2009…. Every time I check my application status in VFS website my application is still in process by highest British Commission. I tried to call the British Embassy Manila but still i got the same reason. Please help us, after a long time of waiting, we hope we will get the positive result. My school sponsor tried to email the UKBA and the british embassy manila but the reply to our email is they checks and monitors all applications to ensure they meet the required standards set by the Points Based System…I just want to know HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE? I been waiting for six months now i’m really stress and depressed

share ko lang po nangyari sa friend ko, nakakuha din po sia ng student visa last 2008, nakapag work and at the same time nakakuha sia ng NVQII, naka extend din po sia sa UK ng another 2yrs for tier4, nag try sia magbakasyon sa pilipinas last april 2010 after 2weeks na bakasyon bumalik po sia ng UK, ang nangyari po sa knya ay Airport to Airport( A to A) nagkaroon ng interview sa immigration sa heatrow, so sana maging ready ang mga papasok na student visa kasi sayang naman po ang gastos kung ganito ang mangyayari, unang una ginagawa na nilang business ang student visa entry sa UK, ang laki ng binabayad na student visa fee, ang pag aantay ng matagal sa application, ang ginastos sa tuition fee agency paglalakad ng documents ay hindi malaking biro. sana naman po maging fair, minsan iisipin mo sa sobrang dami ng nag aapply 20% lang naaapprove tapos pag dating ng airport sa heatrow pababalikin lang marami pong ganyan na case…minsan tuloy iniisip namin pinagkikitaan lng kmi ng embassy, school, agency, at airlines… bakit po ang US embassy kung kulang ang documents mo o nde ka nakasagot sa interview deny kagad, okay lng yun at least on the spot alam mo deny ka, samantalang sa UK embassy kung kulang documents mo pwede kang magprovide pero in the end of process deny ka pala nag aantay ng matagal na panahon almost half year nag aantay ka ng result tapos deny ka pala, hindi ka mkakuha ng another way kasi ang documents mo nasa kanila, tulungan nyo naman mga student visa na makarating tong testimony nila nakaka awa naman kung ganito lalo na kung may pamilya sila umaasa sa kanila….maging fair naman po sana!
