Work experience, paid or unpaid, is a great way for companies to find potential recruits and also a good way for students to get a glimpse into industries that interest them. Hamish Gill, who completed work experience at Hydrogen Group in summer 2011 said, "Before I started I knew little about the practises involved in the recruitment industry, or marketing. It seems to be an industry that is constantly adapting and changing to meet the demands of its clients. This ever changing environment have made the week interesting and varied, as things can change quickly, with lots going on to keep me on my toes. I haven’t even had too much time to check up on how England are doing in the cricket, which is a rare thing for me not to be doing at this time of year. Something must be wrong if this is the case; after all I have heard about work experience, I can’t actually be enjoying it can I?" Agreed. It can get you an amazing level of experience and if you're good enough, the company may want to take you on when they have the capacity.
