The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has recently revised the tier 4 sponsor register and has removed several institutions from the list. UKBA announced on the 25th August that all applicants should ensure that the institution they are applying to is on the tier 4 Sponsor Register when they apply for a UK student visa. You should check before submitting your application that your chosen institutions have not been suspended or withdrawn from the list. If your chosen institution is not on the list, the embassy will not be able to grant you a student visa. If you have a visa letter that you got before your approved education provider’s licence was suspended, and you have already been granted permission to enter the United Kingdom, but you have not yet traveled, you are advised not to travel until your educational institution’s status has been resolved.
Check that your institutions are listed in UK BA sponsor list please follow this link and feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
Good luck with your visa application.

Hi Mohammed
You will simply have to wait for the outcome of your application. I think they are planning to review the situation at the end of February.
You should speak with your school or college and inform them of the situation – they should already know about it and of course be sympathetic. Make sure you defer the start date of your course, and get written confirmation from your school and agent, just in case.

Hi Louie
You can change Tier 4 sponsor but you will have to submit a new application from within the United Kingdom and pay the appropriate fee. You will basically have to do exactly the same as you did to get your original student visa in your home country.
Your college may just be suspended whilst investigated by the UK Border Agency. You should speak to them and find out. In which case it would be easier to just wait for the outcome of the UKBA’s inspection – if the college looses its licence you will be given time to switch to a new education provider.

Hi Ali
I don’t know for the whole of January, but I do know that over the past 5 working days:
- 18 schools have been removed from the Register
- 13 schools have been re-included on the Register
It is currently taking schools and colleges anywhere from 3-6 weeks to several months to be inspected, satisfy the UK Border Agency’s concerns, be re-rated and re-appear on the Sponsors Register.

Hi Ananthababu
To discuss the precise details of your individual case you should also consult a fully qualified and regulated immigration lawyer. Find one near you at the OISC.
If I were in your situation, I would not travel to avoid any problems re-entering the United Kingdom on your return.

Hi Nazmul
To be able to apply as an adult student you must score a total of 40 points under Tier 4 of the Points Based System:
- a place on a course with an approved education provider – 30 points; and
- enough money at the time you submit your application to cover your course fees and monthly living costs – 10 points.

Hi Abhishek
You have nothing to worry about as you are already in the UK and presumably have a long time to run on your student visa. Hopefully your college will have resolved any issues before you come to renew your visa.
Good luck with your studies and let me know how you progress.

Hi Sita
I do not know if, when or what chance Hammersmith Management College has of being re-included on the sponsors register – to find that out you should speak to the college or your agent.
You probably haven’t heard anything about your application for so long as it will be on hold following the suspension of your college’s tier 4 sponsor licence.

Hi Pankaj
I don’t see any point in withdrawing your application as you will loose the fee. It’s probably best to wait to hear the result of your application – you won’t be able to apply to another college anyway as each and every application is on hold.

Keep checking the sponsors register to see when it comes back.

As of 2 February 2010 Melborn House International College does not appear on the Tier 4 Register of Sponsors.
Do you mean Malvern House? I’ve never heard of Melborn House IC. If you do, they’re not on the list either.
I imagine it is still under investigation by the UK Border Agency. Keep a look out on the Register to see if it comes back.

Hi Ravindu
Your application is showing as still under process because it is on hold because your college’s sponsor licence has been suspended. This will have happened to all applications.
Have you spoken with the college to find out what is happening?
Keep me posted with your progress Ravindu.

Hi,
My college license has been put on hold since 20 Jan 2010. My concern here is that I’m supposed to lodge my renewal application around 3rd week of February because my visa will expire 20 March 2010. Please can you advise if I should start looking to enrol at a different college? Or shall I wait for until the college gets back it’s license? Is it be better to enrol at a University? But the only problem is that the tuition fees are lot higher that colleges?
Thank you in advance.

Hi Robby
You can still submit your renewal application, but it will be placed on hold until the reasons for suspension are resolved. During this time you application, supporting documents and passport will be held.
To change education sponsor you have to ask permission from the UK Border Agency (as I assume you first received your student visa before October 2009). As your renewal is due soon you may not receive this permission in time.
If it was me I would submit my renewal and wait for an udpate on the situation.

hi,
I applied for my student visa application in october2009 and appeared for biometrics on 5th of january. on 19th of january the sponsor college (LSBC) got suspended. I was told by the agent that since my biometrics was done before the suspension I would get my visa even though the college does not appear on the list of approved colleges. Is this the case or my visa is on hold??

Hi Rahul
I’m not sure as to your individual situation and perhaps your agent has better local knowledge.
But as far as I am aware, all applications made when a college is suspended from the Tier 4 Sponsors Register will be placed on hold until the UK Border Agency’s concerns are fully addressed.
If you find out otherwise, do share with all of us. Can you get any further information from your agent?

Hi Ahish
Still as of 2 February 2010 they do not appear on the UK Sponsor Register. Rather worryingly, I just tried their website – http://www.londonsam.org.uk/ – and it doesn’t load! It does look like this college has gone to the wind, but never say never.

Hello Sir!
I finished my NVQ3 at Thames International College recently. Thames College closed as their license was revoked. I have an acceptance letter from a University. If I pay my full University fees, how much more do I need to have in my account to extend my visa considering that I didn’t get any certificate or progress report to prove that I have finished my course at Thames?
Please help me.
Thank you

As your school has had their licence withdrawn, your permission to stay in the UK will not be limited (the UKBA should have/will contact you):
- to 60 days if you were not involved in the reasons why your approved education provider had their licence withdrawn (the UKBA will not limit your permission to stay if you have less than six months left. You may want to apply for permission to stay with another approved education provider during this time);
- immediately if the UKBA think you were involved in the reasons why your sponsor’s licence was withdrawn.
As you can see, as long as you’ve done nothing wrong then you should have time to enroll with a new school or college and submit a new visa application.

Dear Sir,
I have traveled to the UK just recently. Recently meaning around a week or so ago.
I have gotten admission in the college named “AA Hamilton College” which is currently said to be suspended.
Is there any chance of it being re-listed on the board or not?
Sir, what should I do? Wait for it to be re-listed or find another college?
Thanks.
