The UK Border Agency has announced a revision to their service standards for visa processing times in order to improve the service provided to their customers. The UK Border Agency aims to make the issue of visa processing times more transparent and easier to understand for applicants of all UK visa classes.
The new customer service standards will apply to all applications but settlement visas. The UK Border Agency aim to process 90% of visa applications in a maximum of three weeks, 98% of all visa applications in six weeks and every single application they receive within 12 weeks. The performance of individual British High Commissions worldwide can be checked at any time, with data publicly provided on actual processing times, segmented by visa type.
There is of course one caveat, in that the UK Border Agency reserve the right to take as long as they deem necessary to ensure all security and document verification checks have been completed thoroughly. This is to ensure that the UK’s borders remain secure and protected at al times. However, the UK Border Agency are able to process the majority of applications sent to High Commissions well within the new timeframe guidelines.
In some parts of the world, it is necessary to make an appointment for applicants to provide biometric data. In this situation, the UK Border Agency’s new standards state that an applicant should receive an appointment no more than one week from the date it was requested.
With regards to UK visa applicants who’s initial application was denied, but an appeal allowed by an Immigration Judge, the UK Border Agency’s new standards aims for a full conclusion to be reached in no more than eight weeks. Performance data surrounding this issue will be made public from May 2010 onwards.
All applicants are reminded to check with their local VFS service to get a more detailed picture of visa processing times in their region. Remember to plan ahead and allow sufficient time for your application to be processed and decided. Don’t leave it to the last minute!

Dear Ahmad Ikram,
I know where you are coming from but I believe that as a student it is also part of you responsibility to acquire those information by yourself. In my country(The Philippines), we were taught how to have “self-reliance” and to demonstrate “logic” under pressure. But in your case, I’ll make an exemption..:)
Do let me know where your country of residence and as a “responsible” student like many of us here, I’ll find that empirical contact for your disposal..
Moving forward, For students from the Philippines they can send their complaints thru the below details.

Guys,
This letter is intended particularly amongst those applicants who are applying in the island of the Philippines. I am also not satisfied on how the Guide to Visa processing time is faithfully followed in our country of residence. Regardless, the struggles/challenges we’ve all been through during our pre-visa application, all of these will simply be decided by the respective ECO’s assigned to process our visa request.
Therefore, I believe that all tier 4 students/applicants without regard to its race, country of residence, are all entitled to receive a fair and accurate result from the officers in charge. And should the above Guidance be breached by themselves, there are proper channels where we can report such occurrence for them to ensure that these caveats are stringently complied with.
My point is, instead of expressing our grievances to irrelevant parties we should all be mindful and focus our thoughts, put it into writing and send it to the concerned department. By means of this, we can show them that we are not only trying to get their permission for leave to enter but we are also keen in getting such transition to be amenable to everyone.
Please don’t hesitate to state your insights.
Thanks,
Ron

hello maricor,
My class will also start today May 20 and my school also have given latest time to join them. Moreover, i have applied for my visa last december 2009.i was supposed to join for my jan 21 2010 class however my visa result was delayed and so i waited again until my school got suspended but a month after they got back. I was reassessd by the college f i am qualified and i did and so i paid my remaining balance and had my CAS number. But then, a month already passed and the BHC still pending my visa result. I know how you feel. I hope my situation will be a consolation that you will feel less sad.
My friend also applied last november and still no result yet.
Lets just hope for the best.

this is very sad and very frustrating. what is your school? i have been to what you have been to be admitted to a sponsor. thats why my application for visa entry was on april 29 because i have to wait for the cas number and also the go signal to lodge my documents from the school.
i received an email from my agency that the reason BHC’s visa processing takes so long because of the fake documents submitted and they need to verify every document.
im so mad because my school right now wont accept late comers and for that the student have to reapply from the beginning.
1. get assessed by the school
2. secure cas number
3. reapply again to VFS

if i got the visa as my joining date has already passed do i have to process the visa application again for the new course or i can use that visa for the next session!
please reply may be that will help us all

This news was published in ukba website last 30 March. Eventhough they announced this, still its not applicable to Philippines, for it takes 4months and they still haven’t given any update to each of pending applicants of Tier 4.

Hello,
I’ve applied for Tier 4 Visa along with two dependants on 10′th May 2010.
My course start date is 9′th June 2010. I wanted to know how long would it take for visa stamping by British Comission?
I’ve applied through VFS Global, Mumbai.
Thanks

Hi! How long does it take for BHC to process a student visa?
I’m so worried because the start date of my course will be May 20, 2010 and they only allow international students to travel within the lastest start date of the course which will be June 9, 2010.
I’ve lodge my application last April 29; still my application is under process. Does it usually take this long? Its so unfair on my part and the saddest thing about this is that I can’t do nothing except wait. Can BHC do refund? No. I’m so frustrated and disappointed.
