Please remember that on Monday 22 February 2010 the final phase of Tier 4 of the Points Based System (PBS) will be implemented.
What this means:
· Visa Letters become obsolete – from 22 February 2010 it will be mandatory for all schools to issue Confirmations of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to potential students applying from inside or outside the United Kingdom. Applications from potential students for leave that do not contain a CAS number after the 22 February will be refused. All students who currently have visa letters MUST apply on or before the 21st February. This is the last day that UKBA will accept visa applications using a visa letter.
· Reporting students who have used a CAS in an application for leave and do not attend their courses becomes mandatory for schools.
What this means for Tier 4 potential students:
· From 22 February 2010 potential students must be in possession of a CAS number from their prospective Tier 4 sponsor in support of their application for leave
· Potential students in possession of a Visa Letter from their sponsor can only use it if they apply for leave before 22 February 2010, irrespective of whether the decision on that application is made after 22 February 2010.
· Any application submitted on or after 22 February 2010 that does not contain a supporting CAS number will be refused.
· When enrolling at a course all students must be made aware of the school’s attendance policy by the agency.
Please note schools will only be able to start issuing CAS numbers from 22 February, not before.
Please remember that the CAS system applies only to students applying for a General Student Visa. For students applying for Student Visitor Visas the old system applies – using a visa letter and having their application assessed under the old pre-Tier 4 system.

It depends on what course you will be studying and on the educational institution’s individual entry requirements. The bare minimum for any student is CEFR B1, around IELTS 4. However, you will not find any colleges worth their salt accepting students at this level.

Hi! I have a problem. I already had 4 UK visas and now I am applying for Tier 4 but the bank statements I have received show only 27 days period. actually the needed sum of money is still there but the statements show the date i put money there-4th of June till 1st July/ I cannot order a new statement because that would take a long time. the bank is in UK and I am in Russia. so, can I attach just printouts from internet that the money are still on my account or they will not have any value/ What shall I do????? hepl me plz!!! I have already booked an appointment at the visa centre and already have all the other documents.

Your bank statements and all other documents must be in order at the time of your application. The actual date you paid and submitted your application – as shown on your receipt – is important and used to assess all your documents.
You can not use printouts of internet banking statements.
You will have to wait until your paperwork is in order before applying.
