Students stranded at the hands of UKBA and Colleges

Dear Sir,

I have just looked through your website about the suspensions (so to say raid by UKBA) of the colleges and how students are struggling and left without any proper guidelines from the UKBA for continuing their studies.

Why this current chaos? It is really unneccessary and it wouldn’t have happened if UKBA had given proper guidelines when the PBS started. It is now like American-Irak war. Without prior calculations and assessment, jumped into somethng and then putting others into chaos.

It is really hard for the students to get information. UKBA should give them proper guidelines which should be easy and not throwing money. It is quite natural that Students are panicked when they hear of a suspension and they enrol in other college paying there an advance fee as well. They are totally sucked by the black hole, which is the UKBA and the colleges.

It is really painful to see genuine students struggling and paying a lot of money and time worthlessly which is not the fault of the students. It is the fault of UKBA and the Colleges Who should be accountable for these current chaos?

I think the UKBA is punishing the students who trusted their list. I agree that they have to inspect and control but not at the cost of students future. The students are in total confusion and uncertainity. They are wasting their time and money. It is not that they came to UK by spending few hundred pounds. They spend thousands and thousands of pounds. They never ever thought they will end up with such chaos as they thought they rely on a highly trusted authority namely, The UKBA. I read from letters posted by students in your web page, they spent thousands of pounds for nothing where a UK student (citizen) will never ever spend. Thus it is not propotional at all what the UKBA and their partners (colleges) are currently doing.

It is the UKBA who is the sole authority who inspected the colleges and published the Tier 4 sponsor list March 2009, and therefore The UKBA is accountable for the current chaos.

In my opinion, the only solution is the UKBA should let the students (who already in the UK and registered for a course) ,to carry out their studies in these affected colleges. UKBA can give the licence back to the college restricting them in their overseas venture as only highly trusted sponsors can enrol overseas students as of 6th april 2010, for lower qualification with workplacement. By that, the whole issue and purpose of immigration control also be met.

I wrote a bit too long as I feel pain seeing the students struggle. I myself is a PhD holder, and I know the pain of wasting time and money.

Kind regards,
prasanna

  • You are absolutely right. Precisely we, as students or would-be-students, found ourselves as UKBAs “BAIT” just to make their corrective and preventive measures successfull at our expense. Very unfair !!!

  • Dear Prasanna,

I totally agree with you above comment. I am one of the victims of this unfair rules. I have called Home Office several time in order to get a clear answer but none was given .. what a shame UKBA !!

I am wasting a lot of money, no refund from the school, i have to pay for my fresh Tier 4 student visa, moreover I have to have at least 7200 pounds in my bank statement in oreder to meet UKBA requirement.
The thing that I am so upset about UKBA is that they should have not granted me this visa to enter UK with any unstable schools or colleges. How do we suppose to know that you gonna take out our school’s licence during our course. No one knows, really, that makes all of us even more panic.

It is not faire, we, as a student have done nothing wrong, we’re not involved but why we have to pay for what we have not done.

If this country is not welcoming international students anymore, it’s such a big shame for being a native english speaking country.
