Immediate Changes to Process of Switching Sponsor Introduced

From 23 July 2010, existing Tier 4 students who want to change to a sponsor with a Highly Trusted Sponsor (HTS) licence will be able to begin their new course of study, at their own risk, while they are waiting for the UK Border Agency to make a decision on their application to change sponsor.

Students applying to change to an A- or B-rated sponsor are not permitted to begin their new course of study until they receive a positive decision from the UKBA on their application to change sponsor. To avoid unnecessary delays in beginning a course, the UKBA have put processes in place to prioritise applications made by students who want to change to A- or B-rated sponsors.

  • Hello,

I am currently changing to a different sponsor(Highly Trusted). The visa from my previous sponsor will expire in September 2011. Do I need to apply for a new visa now? Can I travel outside of UK and come back with my current visa and CAS letter?

  • Dear,

i am student of greenwich university, i am in UK since 2001.my husband and my 8 years old son (born in UK) both are my dependent. 2 months back my husband applied for his 10 years long ILR as he is in UK since 2000.but what makes me worried is that due to some reason i couldn’t attened few classes,i am afraid if my university let homeoffice know about my attendance will it effect my husband’s ILR as he is my dependent? though i am student of this university before this CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Study)system was introduce and still have got my visa till nov 2012. if my uni decide to let homeoffice about my attendance then will they let me know before they going to do it and will it effect my husband’s ILR ? pls reply me.

  • Please can some one advise me about CVDP. CVDP has been suspended since January 2010. Please can someone tell me why the college is suspended . My passport is at the home office , I sent my passport for a visa extension last year but still my visa is pending. I have been offered an unconditional offer at one of the university in London. The college has even given a CAS number and sent it to ukba. Please can some one tell me how I could transfer to the university. No one is saying why the college is suspended . I am becoming suspecious as nothing is coming up

  • Hi Danial,

I discussed with you my problem 2 days erlier that my university cancelled my registration and i am looking for admission in another college/university. but my question is i heard UKBA give 60 days time to change the college. from when this 60 days will start? the day university board took decision or day i received their decision. because uni board took their decision on 28/6/2010 and i received the decision on 8/7/2010. and i made appeal against there decision on last week. so what shall i do now ? i got offer from another A rated college and i am going to send letter for UKBA permission tomorrow. I have to show bank money on last 28 days . so when i will start ? after receiving there permission or from now on even dont know whether i will receive there permission or not. pls reply me ASAP. sami

  • UKBA stands for united Kingdom Best Amendment Agency well its not good atleast allow the students to start their studies with new sponsors if their reason to change the sponsor is genuine if by mail a student send his docs to UKBA it takes 3 months to decide the application what the hell is a student do in these 3 months these are the policies which sum how discourage genuine students to choose uk for higher education

    • Funnily enough, that’s exactly the same thought I had: just what are students expected to do whilst they are waiting for a decision? Sit at home twiddling their thumbs? Will the decision period be treated as holiday therefore allowing students to work full time? I doubt it.

Seems to be another policy which has been poorly thought.

It’s not much better for students switching to Highly Trusted Sponsors: sure they can start their course, but at their own risk! So, they could stand to lose all fees paid.

Surely there’s a better solution to this?
