The following list of schools and colleges have been removed from the Tier 4 Register of Sponsors. This list is historically accurate back to the start of December 2009.
As schools get their sponsor licenses under Tier 4 back, we will place a strike-through on their name.
This list of suspended colleges in the UK will be updated daily.
If you notice a school or college that you think has been suspended from the Sponsors Register, but is not on our UKBA suspended colleges list, then please leave a comment and we will add it to our list.

Publishing the Registers and updating the Master Suspended List has been disrupted due to the political unrest in Thailand; most of our offices are sadly closed due to their proximity to the troubles. Please bear with us whilst we try to update the lists by hand. Your understanding is kindly requested. Ok the government knew what they were doing. Alot of the colleges who were approved took big premises and told the ukba what they wanted to hear. So what happened the ukba opened its doors made the entry route easy so hundreds of thousands of students would flock to the UK and guess what thats exactly what happened, the students who hadnt the capacity to pass a basis english test all swam directly to the bogus colleges, the governmet monitored what colleges took them and then went to check them out. they already knew what they would find so know they can use that to close them down, reasons non attendance, too many student not big enough premises, bad record keeping, colleges bank accounts didnt add up alot of black market money, so now the ukba are clearing all the dirt out of the system, regulating it like the taxi system a few years ago, gradually there will be no more bogus colleges or students, why are genuine students worried, if you had the money to fund a years worth of study then i guess you all really o have money in the bank to enroll in a new college if you are genuine. GOODLUCK

I dont know what you are watching? UK is not big-brother state! I dont want UK to change UKBA’s name into ‘East India Company’
We adore UK’s growth towards democracy,multi-culturalism, human right and tolerance. Actually our voice is to help UK come out from its imperial past.We have a wonderful Queen to lead commonwealth!
dont make us to think about our grand dad’s stories of brutal colonialism!

watching,
some students enter to the UK just to work and make some money, thats completely true. but you cant blame to each and every students for this. all students are not the same. the maintainence fund of 7200 GBP is for maintainence not to fund our study. IF we use this to enroll in a new college then what will we do in the next 9 months. The british government wont provide us with food and shelter for free jus becoz we wasted all our maintainence fund to get enrolled in a new college british government ain’t so helpful.
Our deposit in the previous college is not being refunded just becoz the previously A rated college is now not in the list of tier 4 register of sponsers. i clearly understand that we made a big mistake in selecting the college. but let me tell you that in my country the consultants are siting there jus to earn money so they refer us to such colleges sayin that its a very good college. to a large extent, i agree that its our fault but to some extent i believe that its UK border agency’s fault as well. they are the one who provide tier 4 sponser’s liscense to colleges. the rating of colleges and universities in A & B is not working so efficiently. A top class university is also ranked A and a bogus college is also rated A. how can we differentiate between a good college and a bad college. previously i thought that A rated colleges are good colleges and B rated colleges are those who are likely to face suspension.
Ok brother u might be thinking that this is all shit and dont give a damn to it but how wud you feel if you go to a hospital to operate your stomach. after the operation is over the doc says that “we took one of ur kidney and the other is already damaged. so if you dont want to die then pay for the kidney and take it back”. i hope this wont happen to you and you live a long and happy life but what abt the students. they are facing the same problem. they have already paid the fees for a year and now the border agency wants the students to pay again and enroll in a new college. If its called students fault in UK then we call it a robbery in my country. we students are being robbed by the UK border agency.
Thats what i ve got to say. i might be wrong, i m just a man. but this is what i feel.
i respect to ur views dear watching. in some cases i agree with you as well but in some cases i disagree. i hope you wont mind after reading this. because i know that you are a citizen of a democratic country and in ur country everyone has the right to express his/her views.
GOOD LUCK

Watching,
Despite this comment being so unpopular, I do think there are some truths in it.
The problem of abuse of the Student General Visa route has been a long one, extending back to the Conservative Government of John Major. It is only now that a government has acted to tighten up the system.
And I have to agree with you, the way that the UK Border Agency went about their business is chaotic. However, they didn’t really have many options open to them when the Points Based System was introduced: they could hardly suspend applications to all colleges whilst they inspected them – that would be disastrous!
However, I do not take your point that all genuine students will have the funds to pay another 5,6, or 8 thousand GBP to enrol on a new course 3,6,9 months down the line. Sorry, but this is just illogical.

watching has got some really valid points. many ppl , just like watching are furious because the whole immigration system is a joke really. absue of student visa system has been a convention of immigration for about one and a half decade. only recently gvt acted to stop that but they have been really naive and inefficient. they should have thought about the protection of students really. if you leave a massive flaw in your system and they go around making ppl’s lives miserable on the basiss of that , is not right, infact that is moronic.
if you go to heathrow , you will see, that that we dont even have enough manpower to handle the infulx of students coming over every day. gvt is bringing ppl just on the basis of 40 stupid points and not on the basis of rigorous scrutiny. if you have 40 pts u can come to the uk and study..that is ridiculous.if you come to the uk to study , you must be able to speak english , why isnt IELTS a must for foreign students yet?? on the other hand gvt is thinking to retain the best graduates , well that is a good idea but what are you gonna do with those ppl who dont even speak english? surely this influx has got something to do with the recession but, shouldnt we be thinking about the future as well ? gvt is causing both this country and foreign students a lot of damages.( forget about all the foreign students who go to highly trusted sponsors becuase their number is not great and therefore they will not be affected really )
foreign students are always good news to this country because they contribute billions of pounds to this country and at the same time they potentially build up long term freindship/ rapport with this country. i think it is an obligation on the part of gvt to protect all the students from any kind of flaws.

Pls i would like to find out some guidiances/cautions/ i need to put in place before/after proceeding on my application in respect of the new UKBA policy. Please, i would appreaciate if you can take your time to explain this to me in detailed so as to avoid being going on wrong direction…..
Thank you.
please can i have your personal email id? for more directives/suggestions from you.

Dear Emmanuel
Thanks for your question – we’ll be making a new post to update everyone on the Highly Trusted Sponsors list shortly. Allow me to give you a brief summary in the mean time.
The Highly Trusted Sponsor list will be a new Register, which all colleges providing courses with a work based element will have to be on. Education providers who receive public money will be automatically included on the new Register. All other education providers will have to apply for inclusion. I imagine that if the school has been recently inspected, then no further visit by the UKBA would be necessary. And vice versa, if the UKBA haven’t visited the school, I’m sure they’ll do so at this opportunity.
There will also be very strict criteria and rules for remaining a Highly Trusted Sponsor. For example, one rule currently being discussed is to remove any education provider who has either 1 % or 10 (whichever is less) no-shows per year.
We’ll get a more detailed post on this issue out soon. My email is: daniel@adviceforyou.org.uk

Hi Emmanuel
You could well wait until the publication of the Highly Trusted Sponsors Register if you want, in fact I think it quite a good idea.
That is unless you are applying to a college that is likely to be included anyway, in which case you could just go ahead and apply.
What college are you thinking of applying to?

hey daniel,
how are you doing? its really good to be back after such a long time. by the way whats goin on with new london college? its been suspended for almost a year. those guys haven’t refunded my deposit yet after i withdrew my application almost 7 months back.
anyways dan i wanted to submit my application once again for the tier 4(PBS). what do you think about london school of commerce? its listed in the highly trusted list but still i wanna read your view on this. and there’s one more problem. last time i sent a letter for the withdrawal of my application but still border agency refused my application saying that the college where i applied was in suspension. now my question is “how much is this gonna affect me if i apply for the tier 4 once again”?

As part of your student visa you showed you had the funds 880 pounds per month for 9 months 7200 pounds, your all crying saying you have no money to enroll in new college, do you think the home office are blind. wheres all your money for study gone??? did you not have it in the first place because you came here to work not to study???. stop crying and do us all a favour and go home….

7200 Pounds were shown was for the living expenses in UK but my dear, if we had already paid 8500 Pounds before to take admissions and then after those colleges have been suspended where has that Fees gone, and taking admission in new college or uni is again making the payments and starting it from all over again. That’s the main problem. But I would again say All the students are not bogus and fake!!! Don’t forget the share of income in UK economy because of the Foreign Students and all this happened because of the fact that YOU allowed it to happen!! No body can cross borders till the Border Agencies allow them!!!!

Please dont jump up and down with no reason at all. No one is crying here for not being able to pay the fee. Its all about ‘What happens to all they have paid already!’. Secondly why should they pay again to home office FLR(S) fee when ‘Grade A’ college (Note: Awarded by authorised people) suddenly branded as ‘Black Listed!’

unfortunately KJ, I think having to pay for another visa application is just a fact of life. The liability doesn’t lie with the Government – it is the college that has broken the rules and students should therefore seek legal redress against their education provider to recoup such costs.
And all students should remember that there are some very reasonably priced insurance packages that will cover individuals against loss of tuition fees, so students should take time to educate themselves about the options available to them.
This is where there is a clear difference between agents who are in it to genuinely help students and those just in the game for the money.

Are you suggesting that students should use the money they have to support themselves to pay to enrol at a new college?
This money was never to be used to pay tuition fees, or for study as you put it, it is for maintenance; i.e. day to day living expenses.

Hi Costia
Their website does say that they are not accepting any new students, so in some way they are acknowledging that there is a problem!
I don’t know the chances of it being re-included, but I will contact them for an official update and post anything I receive in reply.
In any case, the process to be re-approved by the UK Border Agency can be a long one – it could take several months.
Keep checking the Register of Sponsors which we publish daily on this site to see when your college is re-included.

What I am finding amusing about this situation is the STUDENTS. It is plainly obvious that they entered the UK to WORK. Do they really expect us to feel sorry for them when their colleges close down and they are left to go back home and lose everything, do not try to fool yourselves that you came here to study, ive seen 8month pregnant women come here to study and then go on to bring their partner, if i keep laughing i may end up in hospital with my sides split open. Your all running around in a state of panic because youve been caught out. Guess what you will not find any other college who will take you because your quality for education is nothing just work work work.
So enjoy the time your here it wont be for long, most of those colleges were completly visa factories and that why you enrolled at those, if your intention was to study you never wouldve chose london reading or guildhall to mention a few.

Whoever wrote the above…
Remember one thing. Its the government who approved those suspended colleges to bring students from overseas. Did’nt they know that before!! Is this all what the intellegence you have to identify a doggy college?
I still feel very sorry for the students. You can’t blame a student without a proof. if you can proove it then do it so.

Well, I would like to bring to your notice, all the student are not same!!! I agree there are student which came here only for working, but at the same time not every1 was aware of the colleges conditions sitting in the foreign countries. And by the way the visas were granted by UK border Agency after taking all the documents and the FEES. If they were not sure about there so called A Rated or B Rated colleges before, then I don’t think we need to be blamed for that!!!!

You may know of one or two examples where the student visa route has clearly been abused, but you can not tar all students with the same brush.
I think that nearly every person who has posted comments here is a legitimate student, who have legitimate concerns becuase their college’s sponsor licence has been suspended.
The UK Border Agency granted sponsor licences to colleges following the introduction of the Points Based System without ever visiting the schools or colleges. This is where all these problems have arisen.
I agree with you in that I have no sympathy for any bogus student caught up in all this mess. A crackdown of the education sector was well overdue and these changes will make things better in the long-run for international students.
You also say that most colleges are visa factories. The figure is more like sub 5%.

Hi James
They were inspected on 19 February 2010, apparently, which is pretty recent all things considered.
It can take schools and colleges anywhere from 3-6 weeks to several months to be inspected by the UK Border Agency, for a Sponsor Action Plan to be drafted if needed and to be re-included on the Register.
You should keep checking the master list of college suspensions to see when your colleges suspension is resolved.
Only the college and the UKBA will know for sure. After inspection, 32 days is set aside for correspondence, so it isn’t a quick process. Find out more on the timescales: what happens to my education provider if their licence is suspended?.

Hi Waqas
You should not travel to the UK until your college’s suspension is resolved. This is on the advice of the UK Border Agency. You should change your ticket ASAP.
I doubt you will be able to get a refund from your college as most schools and colleges in the UK will only process a refund when they receive an original visa refusal document.
You should remain in your home country until your college’s suspension is resolved. Remember to contact your college to defer the start date of your course.

Hi Pop’s
As your college has had their sponsor licence suspended, they are unable to sponsor any new migrants to the UK, students or dependants.
You should also know that the rules for dependants of students with General Students Visas are changing in the UK. If you are studying a course less than 6 months you will no longer be able to bring dependants. Dependants of students studying courses below degree level will not be able to work. Read more.

Thanks for your reply. The rules for bringing dependents to the UK are changing, from 3 March 2010. Find out more in this statement from the Home Secretary.
What college are you currently studying at? Is it on the Sponsors Register? You will not be able to make a dependent application whilst the college is suspended.

Icon College had their sponsor licence suspended on 12 February 2010 – quite recently in the scheme of things.

Hi Prova
Remember the time-frames quoted are the bare minimum and it can take several months for a suspension to be resolved.
They do have the following statement available on their website:
I think the best course of action is to wait for the outcome of your college’s suspension before taking any action, especially as you have so long to run on your visa.
I do agree with you that it does seem rather strange to limit permission to enter to 60 days if a visa has more than 6 months to run. I don’t know why they don’t just limit all visas in this situation to 60 days?
How are you confused by the 60 day policy with regards to bank statements Prova? You only need to show your balance in the bank 28 days prior to your application, so plenty of time surely?

Hi Prova
As a student migrant already in the UK, the suspension of their licence should not affect your day-to-day life. You should still be attending classes and doing all your work towards your qualifications. You have until February 2011 until your visa expires, so plenty of time!

Hi Prova
If your sponsor’s licence is permanently withdrawn, your permission to enter the UK will be limited in the following way:
- to 60 days if you were not involved in the reasons why your approved education provider had their licence withdrawn (the UKBA will not limit your permission to stay if you have less than six months left. You may want to apply for permission to stay with another approved education provider during this time);
- immediately if the UKBA think you were involved in the reasons why your sponsor’s licence was withdrawn.
You will therefore be given time to find a new sponsor and make a fresh application from within the UK. You do not have to show as much maintenance as when you apply from outside the UK.

Hi all,
I feel very sorry for the students!!, Closing or suspending the colleges makes their life horribly bad. Why government not understanding that when they close a college the students are the ones who seriously effected.
1. They loose their continuity in their studies
2. Their fees not refunded. Colleges are forcing the students to pay full or atleast 1/2 for existing students.
3. Re-apply for another college where students have to pay the Visa fees + course fees
4. Mentally disturbed. You wakeup in the morning and hear the news your college is closed!!
Why student unions don’t take any action. There should be some compansation for the effected students I suppose.

Hi Ankita
And it’s not really the Government’s fault either. The blame for illegal activity lies squarely with the colleges. This is why students should take legal action against colleges whose licences are permanently withdrawn.
Government’s rarely provide compensation to victims of crime. If you buy a car that turns out to be stolen, you will have lost the car and the money too. Why should it be different for education? Governments have to have consistency in their actions.

Hi KJ
I agree with you and do have sympathy for genuine students who have been affected by this. It is not their fault that the UK Border Agency made no efforts to inspect colleges before allowing them to sponsor migrant students.
I have no sympathy for any student who intends to use the student visa route as a means to work in the UK or slip under the radar and over-stay their visa.
The Government cannot provide compensation to students who have been affected by this. One could argue that students should be much more diligent in their research before applying to study in the UK, but I do accept that there are some rogue agents, who are fantastic salesman and can quite easily con students.
Also, there are many different types of insurance products that can be bought to cover any losses of tuition fees in circumstances such as these. Students should educate themselves about the risks and take appropriate action.
At least in the long-term, this action by the UK Border Agency will improve things for genuine students.
If a student finds that their college has broken their terms and conditions, or has their sponsor licence withdrawn permanently, they should take immediate legal action to recover costs and seek damages.

Hi Payal
No, you should not be affected by your college’s sponsor licence suspension. They will not be able to bring any new students to the UK whilst they have no licence.
You will experience inconvenience should you need to extend your student visa whilst your college is suspended; your application will be placed on hold in this case until the suspension is resolved.
If your college’s sponsor licence is withdrawn permanently, you will be contact by the UK Border Agency and your permission to enter the UK will be limited. As long as you’ve done nothing wrong as an individual, then you will be given time to find a new sponsor and make a new General Student Visa application from within the UK.
Hope this helps, keep me posted on your situation.

I don’t think that the college’s sponsor licence has been withdrawn permanently, as they are acknowledging the problem on their website:
Remember that the process to be re-included on the Register is a long one; in fact, following a visit by the UKBA, there is a 32 day period of exchanging written correspondence!
