  • Hi

I have an admission in the University of Edinburgh for MSc in Artificial Intelligence AND an another admission for PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester. Unfortunately, since my ATAS certificate has not been issued yet for Manchester, I can not apply for its visa .

My plan is to go to Edinburgh and meanwhile, I apply for Manchester ATAS. Once its ATAS certificate was provided, I would go to UKBA to change my Tier 4 sponsor.

My question is that is it possible? The reason that I am going to do such thing is the funding which has been proposed by Manchester. During this university replacement, will my funding be secured and safe?

I would be so grateful if you help me.

    • Why would you want to waste your time – and that of the University of Edinburgh – by taking up a place on a course with no intention of completing it? I think this would be unfair on other students who could otherwise study there in your place.

Can you not wait until your ATAS certificate is issued and then take up your place at Manchester?

Why would doing this be related to the funding provided by Manchester?

I would also think that you would get no refund from Edinburgh for course fees paid, but you would need to check.

      • Thanks for your response.

The reason that I wanted to to this is that I was a little worried that my ATAS certificate might not be issued.

Waiting for the ATAS clearance might result in losing both my visa appointment and Edinburgh admission (if my ATAS application was unsuccessful).

Anyhow, could you please let me know is it possible to do such thing at the UK border Agency? Is this straightforward to change the universities in the UK? How long does is take for me to be informed about the result by the Border Agency?

        Thanks.

  • Hey, can i know when new london college was suspended?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    • Hi Sally

Their licence was suspended late 2009, December I think.

New London College has been alleged to be involved in an English test fraud; it is alleged they have been selling English language certificates required for permanent settlement in the UK.

The college have publicly denied this accusation and made legal objections against various media outlets, however, unlike other colleges they have not be granted or applied for interim relief pending a judicial review i.e. being put back on the register until another judge reviews the suspension/withdrawal of their licence.

Therefore, I think it unlikely that this college’s suspension will/has not already ended negatively, with permanent withdrawal of the sponsor licence.

What’s your current position? Do you have a visa application pending?

    • Hi Joe

Is your job independent from your studies or as part of a work and study programme? If independent, do you have an employment contract?

    hello daniel,

can u give me the detail status of oxbridge college of it and management?is it inspected by ukba or not? or how many days will it be suspended?

    thanks

    • Hi Mohammed

It’s only been just over a month so even if they have been inspected, it would only be recently. Following an inspection there are 32 days set aside for correspondence over the issue. Therefore I assume we can expect to hear something end of March or early April.

    • Hi Sappy,

Their sponsor licence was suspended on 28 January 2010.

It can take schools and colleges anywhere from 3-6 weeks to several months to be inspected by the UK Border Agency, for a Sponsor Action Plan to be drafted if needed and to be re-included on the Register.

You should keep checking the master list of college suspensions to see when your colleges suspension is resolved.

Only the college and the UKBA will know for sure. After inspection, 32 days is set aside for correspondence, so it isn’t a quick process. Find out more on the timescales: what happens to my education provider if their licence is suspended?.

  • Hi good day,

I am Ma. Gina Andrade. i want to pursue my studies in the U.K. My friend recommend North London College of Business Studies. i would like to ask if this school have its licensed under tier 4?

hope to hear from you soon.

    Best Regards,
    Gina

    • Hi Gina

As of 1 March 2010 I’m sorry to say that North London College of Business Studies does not appear on the Tier 4 Sponsors Register. If you require a visa to study in the UK, you will not be able to apply for one with this college as your sponsor.

Study somewhere else would be my advice.

  • The licence of London SAM is now on hold, can you give me any clues of when the licence will come back or if it will come back?

  • hi there,

I am applying for my visa extention as a student and my college is currently suspended on the register, i would like to know what will happen if i make a premium application rather than postal and whether they will refuse my application on the spot. My college has been authorised to issue CAS letter by the home office and they say they are awaiting another visit from the home office.

    Regards,
    mub

    • Hi Mub

To be honest, I’m not sure what would happen if you applied for a Premium Application – that’s a good question. I’ll look into this for you.

I think it most likely that you will be able to book your appointment, but when your details are checked on the first floor of the Lunar House, you will be turned away. Or maybe they’ll take your application and as you said you would be refused that day. I’d suggest it simply isn’t worth the risk.

      Where are you studying Mub?

I’m also slightly confused: you said your college’s sponsor licence is suspended, but they are able to issue CAS? This is incorrect – who has told you that the Home Office has authorised them to do so? Sounds very dodgy to me, as a suspended college is not able to sponsor any new student migrants.

  • I would like to know what should I do if my application was sent to the UKBA before my college was suspended what should I do. should i register with another college before I get the decision or what Im just confused because the UKBA doesnt give any concesion before they make a decision where you applied before or after the college has been suspended. I think they should give student sometime before they refuse the application really

    • Hi Nko

That’s not strictly true, the UK Border Agency do grant a concession. As long as your paperwork was issued and your application submitted before the suspension, then your application should be placed on hold. Your application will only be considered once the suspension has been resolved.

I think it probably best to wait for the outcome of the suspension. You could withdraw your application and change education provider, but you would not qualify for a refund – check your terms and conditions.

Good luck and keep me posted with your situation.

    • Hi Kirsty

I think I answered your questions somewhere else too, but here goes again.

If you’re studying in London, you will need to show you have access to £800 per month for 2 months = £1,600.
If you’re studying outside London, you will need to show you have access to £600 per month for 2 months = £1,200.

You will be required to pay the relevant fee again and you will need to get a CAS from your new sponsor.

      Hope this helps Kirsty.

    • HI Kirsty
you dont need to apply again for visa
      just email to migrantreporting@ukba.gsi.gov.uk
and tell them your old sponsor(college)
and the new college you would like to join
and the strong reason of changing your college.

strong reason could be : course not available
      or
      existing college suspended etc

      thanks

    • Hi Farooq

You can change sponsor under the Tier 4 system. The procedures you will need to follow depend on when you were granted your original visa: before or after 5 October 2009. Which applies to you?
