    • Hi Sarmi

Have you already submitted your application? If you have you, it will have been placed on hold and won’t be considered until the suspension is resolved.

If you have not yet submitted your application, it will be refused if you do, as your sponsor does not have a current and valid licence to sponsor student migrants.

    • Hi Sujershan

Unity College had their sponsor licence suspended on 17 February 2010 – quite recently in the scheme of things.

It can take schools and colleges anywhere from 3-6 weeks to several months to be inspected by the UK Border Agency, for a Sponsor Action Plan to be drafted if needed and to be re-included on the Register.

You should keep checking the master list of college suspensions to see when your colleges suspension is resolved.

Only the college and the UKBA will know for sure. After inspection, 32 days is set aside for correspondence, so it isn’t a quick process. Find out more on the timescales: what happens to my education provider if their licence is suspended?.

Your application will have been placed on hold pending the UK Border Agency investigation.

    • Are there any news about West London Business College? The college was suspended on 22 January 2010 and they had the UKBA inspection on 08 February 2010.

      • Hi

As of 1 March 2010 West London Business College’s sponsor licence is still suspended. They have the following statement on their website:

This is to inform you that West London Business College’s Tier 4 Sponsorship Licence has been put on hold by UKBA (Home Office). We are continuing with our normal activities with guidance given by the Home Office. We are also carrying on with our obligations as a Sponsor. There will be no interruptions in any lectures.

In addition to Ealing Broadway, we have also acquired additional premises in Northfields and classes are starting there from Tuesday 26th January 2010. Please check this week’s timetable with your teacher or the reception to inform yourselves of any possible changes. This will probably only affect ABE students.

Finally, West London Business College is not the only college to be going through this process with the Home Office as more than 100 colleges have had their licenses put on hold in the last two weeks.

While we clarify our position with the Home Office students are reminded to attend classes regularly, complete their assignments on time and perform their student duties as usual. The college will be visited by the Home Office very soon when we will be able to address any concerns the Home Office may have.

However, given your username, could it be you who’s best placed to give us an update?

    • Hi

I don’t know the chances of the college having their suspension lifted, but as long as they have not been in serious breach of the rules or committed a criminal offence, then you should be OK.

As you are a current student the suspension should not affect you in any way. Should you need to extend your visa whilst their licence is suspended you will experience a delay, as your application will not be considered until the suspension is resolved.

Has the college made any announcement to current sttudents? Are you all talking about it amongst yourselves? What do your fellow students think?
