  • LSBF is rip off student money and untrustable at all!!!

They sent me email said i’m eligible for refund of a certain amount, and after 4months I still haven’t get my refund.

What a ridiculous things happen? They sent me a email today, said I only got £x of refund which is £750 pound less from my total refund.

  • Hi everyone,

I have been waiting since March for my refund. I went to the Manchester campus to begin the ACCA P2 module on March 21st. I got to the classroom and it became quickly apparent that there were not enough seats for the 80+ students that had squeezed themselves into the classroom. I made a complaint to the staff who were there, only to be told that there were 120 students enrolled on this course….to be taught by just one lecturer and in a classroom that could only seat 80 students. I then left the college and returned to the office to request a refund of the costs….I was not prepared to be taught in such a large class. Over 4 months later I have still not had my refund. I received a reply in June stating that my refund request had been declined, followed by the following “However, as a gesture of good will we would like to offer you your full refund of £544. As the neccessary investigations have taken so long we have decided to also waive the compulsory administration fees.”

I am still waiting and keep getting fobbed off by staff on the phone.

I have now reported this to Watchdog on the BBC and I would urge everyone having problems with this college to do the same. If Watchdog receive lots of complaints they will have to respond and follow this up. Please go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/ and click on Your Story.

Do not let them get away with this….please please spend a few minutes reporting them to Watchdog….and we will then hold them to account.

      • Hi Hameed,

I have finally received my refund from LSBF. I just persevered and continued to hassle them week after week and they finally gave in.

        Good luck

        • Good to know that mate.
Would you let me know please how did you go about getting your refund please.
Calling them ,going in person, writing to them or leaving notes on the refund ticket and was it full years fee or full course fee.

I kind of gave up and was looking for a student to transfer the fees to but without much luck.
After reading your post I think I’ll restart my efforts.
Any help /suggestion would be highly appreciated.

          Regards

  • Guys,

I can see that all you guys were not refunded your deposit. I also have been denied my refund for months but I am actually a student there. I was waiting for official confirmation of my exemptions and informed my consultant that I will be getting exemptions for 3 CIMA modules which means my fees will be much much less. However she told me that if i wait for official confirmation to come through, I will miss this intake and will have to wait another 6 months before i can undertake my CIMA. She told me to pay for the course and that as soon as i get my exemptions letter through, all i had to do was to send it to them and i would be refunded the cost for the 3 modules. She assured me that this will be the case and even sent me documents on that written by LSBF.

They took 6 months after my refund application to give me a decision and that was cuz i kept pestering them. They refused to refund me my money which amounts to about 2000 pounds. I appealed and they declined again and this time they didn’t even let me know anything; just changed my ticket status to closed.

Well this situation is unacceptable and they really don’t have a clue what’s going to hit them. I have initiated legal action and i’m going to crush them like dust! I will make them pay for taking advantage of so many vulnerable people who have used their whole life’s savings to pay for their education to be able to have a better life.

I will get justice for all u lot…really guys…i will let you know when to watch the news! I have a huge case against them… this time they wont be able to avoid me by not replying!! I will close that school down!!That’s a promise!! I can only laugh because i know what’s coming…they are going to get the biggest shock of their lives!! When you’re a thief, you have to deal with the consequences when the law catches you out, and this is exactly what is going to happen…I would advise all those LSBF employees to start looking for jobs elsewhere and the students to start transfering to other colleges!

    • Hello to all,

having had a similar account, what other alternatives or collective options are there to push ahead with this. For me I am starting from scratch with this situation after many months of no communication, so want to join forces. Who’s is in and how far have you progressed?

      • Hi everyone

For a start i am planning to write to the UK Border aggency and British Accreditation Concil.

        Do check out

        http://www.facebook.com/groups/125846807485716/

Also if there are any students studying at the college currently i have been given the luxury of transferring the fees to another student.

So if there are any students who need to pay their fees please contact me as it can help us both i.e you getting some discount towards the fees and me getting a chunk of the fees paid for my nephew

it will all be done on campus and infront of the adminstration and you can get the letter confirming before the funds transfer.

  • Hi Guys,
Well i’ve now reported LSBF to watchdog because this school clearly must be put to shame.
They can not be allowed to steal money from very vulnerable people in the hope of those involved being unable to take action because they are not in this country!
I say who ever is here in London we should meet up to discuss this further and take it to the press an so on?
Lets do this together, we can contact others via email as not to dismiss their story. Who knows how many innocent people are suffering.
Still no refund for my case however, they did offer to defer until ready or do the course online which was not an option i wanted to choose.
If they insist they are innocent then why would they offer these choices as a goodwill gesture?
    Don’t give up!

And, honestly, i don’t know what to do. It’s now becoming really frustrating n irratating matters.

Is there any one who get his/her refund after long battles with LSBF?

A lot of pages about lsbf in facebook, maybe we should post about refund in their pages? What do you think?

  • Hi,
I have been waiting for 7 months for a refund of fees from the LSBF, I am extremely angry particularly as I have given them every opportunity to resolve this matter amicably. I plan on taking further advice to get my refund paid. Although I fortunately haven’t spent as much as some of the others it is still a large sum of money.

Even just a little communications would have resolved this

  • LSBF has the worst student service in London.. the small college even have 2-3 officer , they service much much much better than LSBF student service. We complained them to ACCA head office and got to manies signature from the students but nothing change.. they change their consultant or officer but they are so inexperienced. As a student , I have much better information than them. LSBF pay them for nothing.I wanted to buy online revision course for paper F4. They got my money from my bank and they gave my F3 ! which I have exemption ! Second issue : I pay another class revision course .and they charged me twice ! Third issue : the ” consultant ” gave me last year revision course time table as it is this year time table.but it was not ! They are very dont know what they should do for their job.! even 15 years old intern can do this basic administration stuff much better than them, I am sure.

Only the lecturers are great. that s only reason that the students choose this college.

But the officers and consultants always have mistake..fatal mistake at some point ! I hate them . they dont make the job easier. they just make it difficult.

  • Hi all,

I find it hard to believe that £3000+ is deposit. Is this for real? How can you claim so much as deposit. This is greed. I agree that LSBF is getting away with it because the people involved are usually overseas and do not undeerstand how things work over here. No school, college etc should charge so much. I have taken the matter to court and hope others will. It’s good Tanya agrees I have a case. I have spoken to at least 3 solicitors and they all agree I should get a refund. However, I will never apply to LSBF for anything and no one from my company will ( obviously a few colleagues know about this and I’ve had to apply for time off, made calls during lunch etc) so it’s no secret. I will discourage my family and friends from attend LSBF. Maybe this means nothing to LSBF but remember there is a multiplier effect…good luck to you all. i hope you get some, most or all of your money back.

  • Hey Tanya

It is a good thing Rosa Parks didn’t share your view or take that stand! Where would we all be now?????? An unfair term, condition, law, legal stand, or contract is just that. Unfair. Anyone can draw up a contract and impose terms and conditions. It is up to people willing to stand up and be counted that will correct such atrocities. Can I tell you Tanya, When James Blake asked Rosa to stand to make room for someone else on the bus. That was the law!! That was the contract, that was in the terms and condition of Montgomery Bus Company. Thank God, she wasn’t rational. I am not arguing whether it is LSBF right to take FULL PAYMENT (not a deposit) for a two years course they never actually gave, my point is, to a RATIONAL mind like yours, does this seem fair??? If really you lost money, did you know when you signed up that this will be the outcome? Was it pointed out to you clearly and you choose to ignore. Is it written in bold types on their website or paper application? Did they include the clause on the terms of offer documents issued? For me the answer to those is no. Many will concur. For consequences of that magnitude then more should have been done to point things out to the customer. That is my argument.

  • Hey J Ibi,

Like I said, I didn’t want to sound mean or discourage anyone but just to give you an idea of how things work. I know what its like to lose a deposit but if you want to make a rational appeal you need to know the facts.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  • And by the way, there is a difference between a deposit and paying full fees. I can understand some loss of what was paid to cover expenses but what expenses runs into thousands of ££££££££s.

Lets be reasonable here. LSBF are not justified in keeping the full fees and they will now be challenged properly by every means possible. LSBF CAN NOT HIDE BEHIND A TECHNICALITY. THE WORLD HAS MOVED ON FROM THE TIMES OF OPPRESSION AND SLAVERY.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  • Tanya works for LSBF, so of course she will take this view. Sales of goods act says the service you have paid for must be rendered satisfactorily or else that contract is rendered void. What exactly have I paid nearly £4000 for? Does Tanya think that if the national papers get a hold of how a British company reaps off vulnerable foreign students, LSBF can hide behind a technicality? Even if they can hide behind the law, how would they cope with a damaged reputation? BELIEVE ME PEOPLE, THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS WE COULD GO WITH THIS. THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN WITH A BRITISH NATIONAL NOR SHOULD IT HAPPEN TO YOUJUST BECAUSE YOU ARE FROM A DIFFERENT COUNTRY. This is daylight robbery. ACCA took a deem view. They did not take Tanya’s view. Report to ACCA, they are collating facts against this scandalous school. If LSBF was confident that what they do is okay, then they should have it in BOLD letters on the application and website rather that hide it in their small print. The only other schools that do these are the other scam schools. I go to another reputable school and it was there I learnt that what LSBF are doing is immoral and not the norm amongst the better schools. Look at this example. We all have bank accounts, yet the bank were successfully challenged on how unfair their charges on failed DD were, even though the charges were mentioned in their T&C. People do not let anyone discourage you. Any institution charging thousands of £££££££ and giving nothing back in return is illegal. Period. They get away with because most applicants are foreigners. What British person will pay that much and get nothing and then roll over. Not many I tell you. LSBF are running scared and have sent Tanya to try and put you off. Don’t give up. LSBF are immoral and should be ashamed of themselves especially as they want to teach people about ethics.
Shame on you LSBF. You are going down!!!!

  • Hi guys, I have friends at LSBF and been following this thread as I myself was in a similar situation not too long ago with another school. I investigated these deposits in different UK schools and unis and found out that unfortunately almost all of them charge non-refundable enrolment deposits :( Once you agree to those terms and conditions there is not much that can be done after so, I don’t mean to be mean but, by the sound of it the only one that has a case here is Sola :/

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 1

  • Well done Sola and hello to everyone
I have written numerous emails to the ACCA since August 2010. They have shown great concern and have written to LSBF. The feedback I get is that Lsbf has not responded. I do agree that anything is better than nothing, the more we write in the more we progress.
So Please write a named, addressed, signed and dated letter to the ACCA 2 Central Quay 89 Hydepark Street Glasgow G3 8BW UK. Find their address on their website.
In addition write to the British Accreditation Council (BAC) 44 Bedford Row London WC1R 4LL.
They are supposed to be the watchdogs for these schools. Again the more we write in the more they listen.
Finally, I am all for unity of purpose. LSBF can ignore us as individuals, they are far more likely to take note of a group of individuals with one common purpose. TO RIGHT THE WRONG THAT HAS GONE ON FOR LONG.
Sola consider joining the Facebook group as your story of courage is a good one to encourage others and we can also support one another. If extra evidence is needed to back you up perhaps we can help.

  • Hi all,
LSBF gets away with this because few people take corrective/ legal action. Send your complaints to ACCA, though there is little they can do but at least they can downgrade lsbf status as an approved learning provider. I have complained to ACCA and I think the more complaints they get, the more chances they will do something. Also, I filed a claim at court today…it’s worth a try and is better than waiting for lsbf to become ‘humane’ and fair. Good luck all

  • Fellow friends, I have decided to take this further. “For evil to prevail, all it takes is for good men to do nothing”.
I have set up a facebook group called LSBF!!NO FEES BACK POLICY. Join this group if you think this policy is unjust and unfair, join if you want your voice to become louder, join if you believe in the power of SYNERGY, join if you work hard for your money and you want your money to work hard for you. THE AIM OF THIS GROUP IS TO GATHER AS MANY PEOPLE AFFECTED BY LSBF NO REFUND POLICY GET PETITIONS SIGNED AND PRESENTED TO THEIR REGULATORS. If still no results, we take it to the next level. Where ever that is. if you are familiar with Mendelow’s stakeholder matrix then note this: We as individual are powerless to stop a giant like LSBF. We fall in the category of High interest, but low power. People in our group are usually ignored. This has been our experience so far. Joining up as one collective group will change that. We would have a louder voice, if not to LSBF, it will be louder to their regulators. There is everything to gain here and nothing to lose. The group is free and I am happy to administer the complaints, I AM BASED IN THE UK SO GETTING TO “THE POWERS THAT BE” IS EASY. Look forward to fighting this good fight with you.

  • I am so glad I stumbled on this forum. I am in the same boat with you all as I tried to bring my brother over here. He couldnt get a visa because his documents were incomplete. Sch refuses to give any of £3450 back. LSBF is a contemporary of Kaplan and BPP yet these colleges will refund your fees as long as you show a refusal letter and it never matters whose fault it is that you cant get a visa. I cannot believe Eugene’s ability to defend LSBF’s stand. I live in the UK. I have had cause to apply for things eg a passport. We get to the passport office and we are told are documents are incomplete we have to come back later. That should not cost £3500. Very easy mistake to make. Everyone slips up on forms and documentations no one should company should capitalise on mistakes. No student should have to have to pay so much for a mistake. I think there is enough people suffering to go on a major complaint panel. LSBF does this only because they deal with foreigners. Unfair treatment of people not fully able to defend themselves. The regulators turn a blind eye. It stops now!!!!!!

    Dear Student,

The committee has reviewed your refund application and visa refusal letter attached. Following your last correspondence, deposits are refundable in specific visa refusal cases.

If the school supplied an invalid visa letter which was the root cause of the visa application being refused the school would take full responsibility and refund the full fees paid by the student. It is the students complete responsibility to provide all necessary documentation to show evidence of maintenance support as required and clearly stated in under the Tier 4 regulations. If the maintenance is refused based on insufficient evidence supplied by the student the school is not responsible for this. As a result, no refund is permitted.

After reviewing your case specifically. The visa was refused due to insufficient funds as mentioned by UKBA. moreover deposits are non-refundable. As a result you are not entitled for a refund of your fees paid. No refund due.

Could you please send the medical documents for your mother for our consideration.

    Regards,

    Student Fees Committee

I have been waiting for 7 months after applying for a refund due to refused visa even though all doccuments requested were given.
Lsbf are now after chasing them since april are saying they do not have to give a refund because the visa was refused.
They think it is ligitimit to take £3600 pounds from some one who has not attended theis school.
Believe me i will be taking legal action as they clearly can’t be trusted!
I don’t know how they have managed to get away with this for so long, who knows how many people they are cheating.
I shall be doing all i can to inform future students and members of the public of their outrageous behaviour.

  • Hey Shajiv,
My name is Eugene and I work for LSBF. You’re description seems over simplistic as students are never turned down for no reason. If the fault is on our side I’d be happy to look into your case and help you get a refund.
Please provide your refund ticket number (so I can track your case) and a detailed description of the situation.
    Thank you! :)

    • Hi Eugene,

This is not an isolated case. I have had a similar problem but the only difference is that I made a payment which LSBF denied receiving despite providing bank details etc. I applied for a refund after 7weeks of waiting for course materials and my request was denied without any reason (at least Hema Jadhav got one). All attempts to reach a resolution has failed because no one replies my emails, and staff are suddently ‘in meetings’ or ‘not working there’ etc. I know of 2 other cases, one of them paid over £2000 and the other £1500. It seems there’s an internal problem at LSBF that the world probably needs to know of. I will be submitting a claim in court soon. I’ve written trice to warn LSBF about this but (not surprisingly) I have not received any replies.

I enrolled at LSBF Manchester paid £4760 fully for 3 years ACCA course on 31/08/2010. The same reason as all, due to visa refusal I am not able to attend course, refund procedure took 4 months and decision was not a penny will be refunded. I think it is not very fair.in my opinion school should deduct certain amount and must refund the rest. this is large amount of money.I really need that money back I borrowed a lot. the situation is ruining my future.
